Meet Our Founder & CEO

Dr Munzir Malik is an Acute Medicine specialty trainee based at Wrexham Maelor Hospital in North Wales, with a special interest in cardiology, echocardiography and Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS).

After completing his Internal Medicine Training and obtaining Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP UK), he progressed into higher specialty training in Acute Internal Medicine. Throughout his training, he developed a strong interest in the use of bedside ultrasound in the assessment and management of acutely unwell patients.

That interest gradually developed into a wider ambition: to make high-quality, practical ultrasound education more accessible to clinicians.

It was this vision that led to the creation of POCUS Wales.

Dr Malik founded POCUSWales.com after recognising the need for accessible, clinically relevant and case-based education in Point-of-Care Ultrasound.

What began as a digital educational platform has since developed into a growing medical education initiative through POCUS Wales and POCUS Education Limited, delivering hands-on courses, regular teaching programmes, simulation-based procedural training, conferences, mentorship and fellowship opportunities.

At the heart of POCUS Wales is a simple philosophy: ultrasound is best learned by scanning.

Its educational activities therefore place particular emphasis on supervised hands-on experience, clinical scenarios, case-based learning and the responsible integration of ultrasound findings into bedside clinical decision-making.
